Maud Boateng is a compassionate healthcare professional and experienced pharmacist with more than eight years of clinical experience, including three years in long-term care. As a Certified Assisted Living Administrator and Activities Director, she combines clinical expertise, healthcare administration, and a deep commitment to enhancing the quality of life of older adults.

Maud’s experience spans long-term care, hospital, retail, infusion, and pharmacy benefits management, giving her a broad understanding of medication management, clinical care, and healthcare operations. She brings this multidisciplinary expertise to Cates Family Care Home, where she oversees daily operations and is committed to maintaining high standards of resident care, safety, and personalized attention.

Maud holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota, an MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Administration from the University of Scranton, and a Master’s in Clinical Research from Campbell University. She is also a Project Management Professional (PMP), bringing strong leadership, organizational, and operational skills to the home.

Her approach to resident care is rooted in dignity, respect, individualized attention, and quality of life. Maud places particular emphasis on thoughtful medication management, with the goal of optimizing therapeutic outcomes, minimizing unnecessary medications and side effects, and supporting healthy aging in place. She also prioritizes meaningful activities, emotional well-being, family involvement, and community engagement.

Under Maud’s leadership, Cates Family Care Home maintains a strong caregiver presence and individualized staffing approach, with dedicated Activity Director and CNA/Medication Technician support to promote consistent, attentive care across all shifts.

Maud is actively engaged in the Chapel Hill community and is passionate about senior advocacy, health education, and intergenerational connection. She supports educational programs and community initiatives focused on senior health and wellness and promotes opportunities for residents to connect with younger generations through meaningful activities such as games, conversation, and shared experiences.

Ruby is a healthcare professional and scientist dedicated to advancing compassionate, person-centered care for seniors. As Resident Care Advisor at Cates Family Care Home, she helps guide resident care practices and programs that promote dignity, well-being, meaningful engagement, and quality of life.

Ruby has helped shape the vision of Cates Family Care Home as a warm, welcoming environment where seniors receive exceptional, individualized care. 

She holds a Ph.D. from Howard University in Developmental and Reproductive Biology, completed postdoctoral training in Mammalian Genetics at The Jackson Laboratory, and currently works as a scientist in antibody development.

Her scientific expertise and commitment to senior care bring a thoughtful, evidence-informed perspective to the Cates Family Care Home team.
